Date Played: June 8 , 2007

Played By: Ross & Jason

Overall Score: 71

Friendliness of Staff: 8
We were greated by Faith who was very pleasant and quite funny. She worked hard to keep our two groups together, as another group tried sneaking between us. The ranger on the course was nice and small talked while waiting for others to play. The bartender was nice and he shared some golf jokes with us.

Facilities/Pro Shop: 7
The pro shop is fair sized and contains plenty of merchandise. There are two practice putting greens here, one close to the club house, the other further away. They have a practice net, but no driving range. The bar needs some updating.

Quality/Value of Food/Snacks: 6
$11 for two hot dogs (which were steamed -> yummy!), a soda and a beer. Decent pricing for any course. On the 3rd tee, you can call ahead (need a cell phone) to have food ready for you when you tee off the 4th.

Fairway Conditions: 8
The fairways were in great shape. We didn't find any weeds. The grass was well cut and must repair well, as there was not a lot of divots. The fairways also did not appear dry, so they are getting plenty of water. The grass was not very thick.

Greens Conditions: 9
The first green was very intimidating as it was like putting through the Grand Canyon. We wondered if this is what was in store for us for the rest of the round. Fortunately, all the other greens were not as challenging as the first. All greens had great color, no weeds and no ball marks. They all rolled great (very fast, but great!) and it was like putting on a nice short carpet. All greens were consistent. They also held all of our approach shots and were very soft.

Scenery: 7
The 9th hole overlooks Bass River, which is a gorgeous sight. There are lots of boats coming and going and you could spend a few minutes just staring out at the river. The course plays along a road on #15 and #16. The course is relatively flat and open. We saw a monster turtle in the rough on #2.

Difficulty of Course: 5
The course is an open layout. There is not a lot of water (#9 only). It is only 5,800 yards from the whites. The front nine is only a par-34. This is a course that you can definitely put up low scores on.

Value Received: 8
Very reasonably priced for a Cape course in June. It was $73 for 18 with a cart. All carts had a mini GPS system in them to give you the yardage to the green. At other courses, they would charge you more given the conditions and the GPS.

Speed of Play/Design of Course: 7
The layout here is very nice. There is a mixture of rolling hills and flat holes. The first hole is a par-3, which can create a back-up on the tee. There are a few short par-4's, which invite you to have short shots in to them. #10 is a drivable par-4. We never had to wait for the group in front of us and were done in 4.5 hours.

19th Hole: 6
The bar is old and has a very small TV that cannot really be viewed by everyone. The tables inside are very small. Outside, they have a small patio with picnic tables that has more nice views of Bass River.

There is not a beer cart on the course.

Comments:
We've played this course a lot and have never seen it in as great of shape as it is now. The course is definitely worth playing on your next trip down to the Cape.
